FULL RESULTS
The Eastern Washington University track and field team finished the WAR XI at Spokane Falls Community College Saturday (April 7) with seven first-place titles during the rainy conditions. Due to technical difficulties, results were delayed by a day.
Â
The men took home first overall out of the 18 teams competing with 125 points. The women finished second out of the 19 teams competing with 104.50 points. Central Washington took first with 115.
Â
"Competing in and through adverse weather conditions, I felt we had several outstanding individual performances," men's head coach
Stan Kerr said.
"I feel like a scratched record with my comments on the last four meets including the WAR XI," women's head coach
Marcia Mecklenburg said. "It was cold and wet. Our team is definitely learning how to compete in these kinds of conditions. Overall, any time you can get some personal records, you are making progress, and that happened for us."
Â
The Eagles compete at home this week at the 46th Annual Pelluer Invitational this Friday and Saturday (April 13-14).

Â
In the field, senior

Tim Beard earned first in the hammer with a mark of 186-9.
More comments from men's head coach Stan Kerr . . .
On individuals: "
Tim Beard and
Shawn Buck continue to be a great first and second punch in the hammer while
Trenton Osborn doubled in the long jump and 100 meters.
Logan Stahl arguably had one of the strongest performances with his stellar race.
Dawson Lack also had a personal record, which given the race conditions, was a great surprise."
More comments from women's head coach Marcia Mecklenburg . . .
On throws: "We swept in the hammer throw and this week the win went to
Madison Doepker. If we take take the hammer out of the mix, the freshman stole the show with
Vernice Keyes in the discus and
Chrissy Fitzgerald in the javelin."
On jumpers: "
Tierra White continues to improve with her finish at the meet. The conditions were so bad they had to cancel the pole vault, which was unfortunate for that crew. I think they are all ready to make hit some big marks."
On runners: "The 4x100 relay got the baton around the track first.
Sophie Bowles did a pretty good job considering it was a long, wet and cold wait between the relay and the 200. Another freshman,
Jessica Linde had a big personal record in the 100 hurdles."
