Keshun McGee Wins Long and Triple Jump at the Lauren McCuskey Memorial Open

The men take home four first-place titles while the women take home one

RESULTS

The Eastern Washington University track and field teams continued their success in the second indoor meet of the year at the Vandal Indoor Invitational on Friday and Saturday (Jan. 11-12).

"It was good to see everyone competing," said head coach Marcia Mecklenburg. "The performance of the meet on the women's side was Dominique Butler's school record and win in the pentathlon yesterday."

"The whole team being in action was great," said head coach Stan Kerr. "Led by Keshun's wins in the triple and long jump with national caliber marks, several team members followed his lead and posted PR's of their own."

Women's Top Performers
In field events, senior Justean Landis took first in the weight throw with a toss of 53-7.

In the pole vault, senior Samantha Raines took second with a clearance of 12-5 1/2.

In the running events, freshman Ashley Herrera placed eighth in the 60 meters. Freshmen Ami Njadoe placed sixth in the 200 meters with a time of 26.68.

Men's Top Performers
The men took the top four spots in the triple jump, led by junior Keshun McGee with a mark of 51-1. McGee went on to take another title in the long jump with a jump of 24-1.

"Dawson Lack had his hands full in winning the 60m, but shined in his final winning by the narrowest of margins. Tactically strong, Isaac Barville's one-mile race in 4:15.9 showed he's ready to do battle at the conference level."

"Team depth showed today. There were numerous strong performances in all the event areas that has us excited to see how good this team is. This week we'll roll up our sleeves again and continue to work hard to better our performances."

"It was great to sweep the top three spots in the women's weight throw, and with that, Justean Landis won her first collegiate meet."

"The youngsters came through in the short sprints and hurdles with two freshman, Alyssa Hoffman and Ami Nodji, making it to the finals of the 60 hurdles and a third freshman, Ashley Herrera, making it to the finals in the 60."

"In the jumps, our top marks came in the vault. This week it was Samantha Raines who came out on top for the Eastern crew placing second and closing out the meet for the team."

"We have some work to do but that is to be expected coming off the holiday break."
