RESULTS
The Eastern Washington University track and field teams completed a successful turnout at the University of Washington Invitational this weekend (Jan. 25-26).
"We had a bunch of women make it to the finals in their respective events and with the number of athletes that were competing that was a tough task," said head coach
Marcia Mecklenburg.
"It was a thrill to watch Jack Sloan, Liam Breacken, Nicholas Mullineux-Perrault and Isaac Barville break the school record in distance medley relay which had stood since 2003," said head coach
Stan Kerr. "I believe they will break their own record again before the end of this indoor season."
Men's Top Performers
On the track, the distance medley relay team broke the school record by 2.85 seconds with a time of 10:01.09. The previous record was 10:03.94 which was set in 2003.
Senior Jeremy VanAssche finished eighth in the 60 meters with a time of 6.82 and sophomore Joe Gauthier was right behind him with a time of 6.88 finishing tenth.
Tremaine McAdams set a new personal best in the 400 meters with a time of 48.80, finishing seventh.
In the field, Keshun McGee finished second in the triple jump and third in the long jump.
Sophomore Colton Kautz placed eighth in the weight throw with a throw of 54-2 3/4. In the shot put freshman Garrett Peoples finished eighth with a throw of 49-4 1/4.
Women's Top Performers

More comments from head coach Stan Kerr . . .
"Keshun McGee shined once again in the horizontal jumps. His consistency has been impressive."
"Tremaine McAdams had a great breakthrough in the 400 meters running 48.80 which easily bested his previous PR."
"Parker looked good in the hurdles and is looking to be in the mix for what will be a stellar hurdle competition at the indoor championships next month."
"Jeremy made a powerful move in the 60 meters and threatened the school record."
"Garrett's shot put efforts continue to pay off. It's a joy to see his growth in the event."
"This is a meet that is more exclusive than inclusive in regards to entries. The individuals that were accepted into this meet should be proud of that accomplishment."
More comments from head coach Marcia Mecklenburg . . .
"Paris Flenoy had the meet of the season. She made it to the finals of both the shot and weight throw. This week she was top dog among the Eastern weight throwers placing third in the weight throw. In the last three meets we have had three different athletes take the top spot for the team. It is nice to have that kind of depth. Kudos to Madison Doepker for making it to the finals in the weight and placing sixth."
"It is good to see Liz Prouty back over 13 feet in the Pole Vault. Liz was our only athlete in an Invitational section and her fifth-place finish was the top performance on the team today."
"Dominique Butler didn't quite set a new school record but she did still set personal records in the pentathlon in the 100 hurdles, shot put, and the 800 meters. She also made it to the finals in the triple jump and placed sixth. That should give her some confidence for the Big Sky Conference Championships. We are going to need her to come back from that pentathlon and score in the triple jump."
"Our athletes are starting to figure things out and it is showing in where they are placing. One more meet down. One meet more experienced."
