The Eastern Washington University track and field teams travel to the University of Idaho for the second time this year to compete in the Idaho NCAA Division Invitational Team Challenge, formerly the Idaho Duals, this Friday (Feb. 1).
Eastern will be competing against the University of Montana, University of Idaho and Portland State.
Field events are set to begin at 10 a.m. Pacific Time in the Kibbie Dome with the running events following at 11 a.m.
"Idaho should be a good meet for us," said head coach
Marcia Mecklenburg. "We had a lot of athletes that were not able to get into the University of Washington Invitational so the Idaho duals will give them a chance to compete again."Â Â
"Heading to Idaho this week, I feel we're going to continue to build on the success that we enjoyed at the UW meet last weekend," said head coach
Stan Kerr. "The more enticing prospect for this week's meet is our whole squad will be competing."Â
After this competition, the Eagles travel to Bozeman, Mont., on Feb. 8-9 for the Montana State Invitational. The Eagles return to Bozeman for the 2019 Big Sky Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Feb. 21-23 at the Brick Breeden field house.

More Comments from Head Coach Marcia Mecklenburg
Â
"The vaulters are starting to put things together so they will be a good crew to watch. It is the same with the weight throw. The women are all starting to feel the positions a little better so I think they are close to some break through marks.Â
Â
"All our athletes that didn't get to compete last week are going to be eager to improve on their yearly performance."
Â
"We are two meets away from the Big Sky Conference Championships. It is time to get serious."
Â
More Comments from Head Coach Stan Kerr
Â
"Last week we were limited to a partial squad, but I know we're all excited about going into Idaho as a full team."Â
Â
"The Kibbee Dome will be the site of next year's Big Sky Conference Indoor Championships. This meet will provide greater familiarity with the venue which will pay off a year from now."
 Â
"I am expecting solid contributions from all four event areas. This is our next to last competition before heading to the indoor championships. As such, I think several individuals will have breakthroughs in their events and position themselves as legitimate conference contenders."Â
