A LOOK AT THE CARDINAL: Stanford received a pre-season No. 3 ranking in the most recent Associated Press Top-25 poll. The Cardinal are coming off of a 31-5 season that saw them win their 13th Pac-12 Tournament title and advance all the way to the Elite Eight.
They return four starters and 11 letterwinners from that group and welcome the nation's second-ranked recruiting class, which includes the No. 1, 15, 19 and 50 recruits in the nation.
The Cardinal played in two exhibitions to unofficially open the season. They routed Beijing Normal, 100-58, before being edged by the USA Basketball team, 95-80.
SERIES HISTORY: Stanford and Eastern Washington have only met once in program history. On Nov. 23, 2004, the Eagles took on No. 7 Stanford in Anchorage, Alaska, and lost 91-50.
Eastern Washington is 8-54 all-time against Pac-12 opponents. The Eagles have one more Pac-12 foe remaining on the schedule, as they play at Utah on Nov. 18.
