CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team will face Wyoming (Mar. 13) in Laramie, Wyo., and then travel to Northern Colorado (Mar. 15) to take on the Bears. Friday's match begins at 2 p.m. Pacific time while Sunday's match begins at 3 p.m. PT.
The Eagles stand in fifth-place in the Big Sky Conference with a 4-1 record while Weber State and Northern Arizona lead with an unbeaten 2-0 conference record.
Rylee Braeden and
Zoey Nelson hold a three-match winning streak in No. 1 doubles while Braeden and
Louise Waite individually have a five-match winning-streak in No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
Additionally,
Yasmin Mansouri and Waite have won two consecutive matches in No. 2 doubles play.
"It's been a good start to the season but we know we have a long ways to go. We are motivated and hungry to be successful on the road this weekend," said head coach
Dustin Hinson. "We know we will face some tough teams and we are looking forward to the challenge."
Eastern has an overall record of 6-4 and a singles play conference record of 23-7 following last weekend's home matches against Southern Utah and Weber State. The Eagles took down the Thunderbirds 7-0 last Friday but could not find victory over the Wildcats as they lost 4-3, giving the Eagles their first conference loss last Saturday.
KNOWING YOUR OPPONENT: WYOMING
The Cowboys are coming off a 4-0 win against Illinois State as they look to host EWU for their first home match of the season.
EWU has yet to defeat Wyoming as they sit with an overall series record of 0-9 against the Cowboys.
Eighth-year head coach Dean Clower leads Wyoming as they currently hold an 8-3 overall record. The team will face Denver on March 11 before facing EWU on March 13. Maria Oreshkina leads the team with an overall 13-6 record and an 8-3 singles play record at the No. 1 spot.
KNOWING YOUR OPPONENT: NORTHERN COLORADO
Eastern has a 6-8 overall series record versus Northern Colorado and a two-match winning streak. The Eagles defeated the Bears without conceding a single point in their last two matches.
Northern Colorado is currently 3-9 overall and 1-2 in conference play as they sit in eighth-place in the Big Sky. The squad faces Colorado State on Saturday (Mar. 14) before competing against the Eagles on Sunday (Mar. 15).
The Bears are steered by first-year head coach Chad Stoloff with second-year Mike Malnati as assistant coach.

The Eagles face Portland next Friday (Mar. 20) in Spokane, Wash., with the match set to begin at 12 p.m. Pacific time.
