CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team looks to face Washington this Friday (Feb. 12) at 11 a.m. Pacific time at the Nordstrom Tennis Center in Seattle, Wash. The Eagles sit 0-2 overall while the Huskies are unbeaten at 3-0.
The Eagles return following a 5-2 loss versus both Gonzaga (Jan. 17) and Washington State (Jan 29).
The pair of
Rylee Braeden and
Zoey Nelson currently sit 1-0 in No.1 doubles play after defeating Gonzaga in their first match.
"We have been facing some really good and competitive teams and players so far this year. And this Friday will be no different," said head coach
Dustin Hinson. "UW presents a tough challenge and one that we look forward to taking on. We have played well in Seattle over the past few years and we look to build upon what we have already accomplished thus far early in the season."
The Eagles have yet to find victory over Washington as they have an 0-6 all-time series record versus the Huskies.
The Huskies are led by head coach Robin Stephenson who enters her seventh season at the helm. Stephenson guided the Huskies to a 21-5 record and its first trip to the NCAA Round of 16 in 10 years, earning the 2019 Pac-12 Coach of the Year nod. The Huskies also went 8-2 in conference play to finish tied for second in the Pac-12 which marked the most conference wins in program history.
EWU's next match will be against Oregon on the road on Feb. 20 with first serve set to begin at 10 a.m. PT in Eugene, Ore. The Eagles face Portland the next day on Feb. 21 down in Portland, Ore., with the match set to begin at 10 a.m. PT.
