SEATTLE, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University women's tennis squad battled Washington to a 6-1 deficit in Seattle, Wash., today (Feb. 12) at the Nordstrom Tennis Center. Following the match, the Eagles now sit 0-3 overall.
"I'm very proud of the team again today for the grit and desire they showed out on court. Every match was a battle and we showed the kind of tennis we can play against the best competition in Division 1 tennis. Great win at No.3 doubles and No.2 singles. And we took three of the other singles matches to a deciding third set," said head coach
Dustin Hinson. "
Jennifer Kida is playing really great tennis to beat two tough PAC-12 opponents in straight sets over the past two matches. I'm very proud of that effort. We have more confidence and more belief in what we can do as a team and that's a big positive. We have a long way to go yet this season but I'm really pleased with our progress thus far."
The Eagles found success against the Huskies with freshman
Jennifer Kida in No.2 singles and in No.3 doubles with the pair of
Louise Waite and
Renata Gabuzyan. Kida, the California native, won her second PAC-12 singles victory in a row at No.2 singles, dominating both performances against WSU and UW.
