"We are looking forward to another opportunity to compete this weekend. We know we are facing another good PAC-12 team," said head coach
Dustin Hinson. "We learned a lot from our first match and we have been working on specific tactics that will build our competitiveness in these types of matches. The main goal is to improve upon our last outing and to empty the tank on court to find a way to come out on top. As in every match, I'm looking for all-out effort and good energy from the team."
The Eagles are returning after facing Pac-12 foe Washington and falling 7-0 at Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center in Seattle, Wash. EWU sits 0-1 overall and looks to break a 26-match losing streak to the Cougars this Saturday.
The Cougar squad is led by head coach Raquel Atawo who enters her first season at the helm. Atawo's team is currently 1-0 after defeating Brigham Young, 6-1 last Friday. WSU will face Big Sky Conference opponent Montana on Jan. 28 before welcoming the Eagles to the Simmelink Courts.
Following the match, the Eagles return home to host their first home match of the new season, welcoming Summit League opponent South Dakota on Feb. 4 to the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse in Cheney, Wash. The first serve is set to begin at 12 p.m. PT.
