CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team hosted Whitworth today and secured a 5-2 victory inside Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse. The Eagles began the match with a two-point disadvantage after surrendering the No. 5 and 6 singles points, due to two walkovers, but came back in dominating fashion.
"I'm very proud of the effort we put into today's match. We were short-handed again, but we talked about just controlling the things we can control and staying strong from start to finish," said head coach
Dustin Hinson. "I am very happy with the focus, desire, and ambition we played with in all of the matches. We came out really tough in doubles and that carried all the way through singles. We believe in what we can do on-court and today was a reflection of that. We look forward to taking what we've learned and built throughout non-conference competition into our conference opening matches at home next weekend."
The Eagles improve to 1-6 overall with Big Sky play just around the corner.
Yasmin Mansouri and
Isabella Foshee teamed up at the No. 1 doubles spot to sweep their opponents, 6-0.
