Eastern Washington women's tennis hosted Saint Mary's College at the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse today (Feb. 26). The Eagles fell to the Gaels, 7-0 and are now 2-4 on the season. Saint Mary's improved to 3-4 on the year.
"I'm really proud of this team. We have had to deal with some tough circumstances, and we continue to go out on the court with a winning effort and winning energy," head coach
Dustin Hinson said. "We are playing tough teams, but we are doing a good job of focusing on the process and getting better in each match. We are excited and ready for conference play to start this week."
In singles,
Renata Gabuzyan battled tough against the Gaels' Olivia Rook. Gabuzyan rallied to win the second set, 6-4, after dropping the first. She fell 10-6 in the tiebreaker.
Leandra Nizetic also played well against Lene Harris Hovda, fighting hard in the first set, but dropping the match ultimately (5-7, 1-6).
