SPOKANE, Wash. — Eastern Washington University Track and Field wrapped up another successful week of competition at the WSU Open (Feb. 2-4) at The Podium in downtown Spokane on Saturday, with several Eagles winning, more placing or reaching new personal records, and 49 achieving season-best marks.

"More than half of the team had PRs or season-bests today so we are going in the right direction," said EWU Director of Track and Field
Erin Tucker. "The team is buying in to our coaching and it is showing with them getting better every week."

On the women's side, senior
Hally Ruff set a new personal best in the pole vault invite, clearing 4.06m (13-3 ¾) in a jumpoff to snag 1
st place at the meet and 7
th on EWU's all-time indoor record book. She also moves to 1
st in the Big Sky.

Madelyn Knight bested her 8.73 from earlier this year to reach 8.64 in the 60-meter hurdles, good for 2
nd in the Big Sky and 3
rd in the school records.

"They were exciting to watch, and both know there is more in the tank," added Tucker about Ruff and Knight.

Freshman
Nattie Ruzauskas and sophomore
Madilynn Carr each set PRs in the mile, finishing 16
th and 17
th with a 5:04.78 and 5:04.83, respectively. The marks also put the two runners at 9
th and 10
th in the EWU records.

Jasmin Muneton, a sophomore from Auburn, Wash., finished 9
th in the 3000 meters with a 10:08.54 time, good for 10
th on the EWU all-time list and a new PR.

On the men's side,
Bobby Say added another top finish to his senior year, winning the triple jump with 15.61m (51-02 ¼), besting his 50-10 ¼ mark for 3
rd in the Eagle history books.

Elijah Conley set a new PR in the heptathlon, scoring 4,713 points, good for 9
th all-time.

Sophomore
Noah Hasselblad placed 2
nd in the 3000 meters at 8:24.08, 9
th in EWU history.

Finally, the Eagle men continued their strong indoor season in the pole vault as EWU record holder
Zach Klobutcher narrowly missed his own mark but still took home 1
st at the meet in the pole vault invite with 5.18m (17-0), good for 3
rd on the EWU list. Teammate
Brayden Freitag also finished just short of his own PR, behind Klobutcher for 2
nd with 5.03m (16-6), 6
th all-time. Eagles also earned 2
nd and 5
th in the pole vault open as freshman
Lucas Couron and
Corbin Luce each cleared 4.58m (15-0 ¼).

"A few (on our team) were challenged this week after last weekend, and I like the way they responded," Tucker noted. "It was great to see them fight today!"
