The Eastern Washington University women's tennis squad prepares for two home matches this weekend, beginning with North Dakota on Saturday, March 18 and Idaho State on Sunday, March 19. Both matches are set for a 10 a.m. Pacific Time start, playing inside the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse. The match on Saturday is part of a doubleheader with men's tennis, who play at 2 p.m.
The Eagles return to action 2-7 overall and 0-2 in Big Sky Conference play leading up to the weekend. They resume play after falling to Northern Arizona last Saturday at home, 7-0.
Scouting North Dakota
Eastern Washington is 5-1 all-time versus North Dakota, winning its last four matches against the Hawks. The last time out dates back five years to March of 2018 when EWU took down UND 6-1 on the road. Additionally, the Eagles are a perfect 3-0 against the Hawks when playing at home.
North Dakota sits 6-9 overall and 2-0 in the Summit League Conference. UND returns to the courts after falling to Portland State last Wednesday (4-3) and look to face Big Sky opponent Idaho on Friday, March 17 before making the trip to Cheney the next day. The Hawks are led by coach Tom Boysen, who enters his second year at the helm.

EWU has an overall series record of 13-22 against ISU, going 3-1 in its last four outings. Last season, the Eagles faced the Bengals on the road and fell 6-1 to snap a three-match winning streak in the series. The match saw
Renata Gabuzyan winning at the No. 5 singles spot and teaming up with
Kenzington Mann at the No. 2 doubles spot, notching a 6-3 win.
The Bengals are led by sixth-year head coach Gretchen Maloney. Idaho State is currently 6-6 overall and 2-1 in Big Sky play with wins over Montana (5-2) and Idaho (6-1).
