CHENEY, Wash. — Eastern Washington pole vaulter
Hally Ruff was named the Big Sky Women's Field Athlete of the Week as the conference announced its weekly Outdoor Track and Field honors on Monday afternoon.
At the Oregon Preview in Eugene on Saturday, Ruff cleared 4.05m (13' 3.5") to start her outdoor season off on the right foot, setting the top mark in the Big Sky and the 10th best in the NCAA. Ruff didn't skip a beat transitioning outside after winning bronze at the 2023 Big Sky Indoor Track and Field Championships in Moscow last month.
The mark also put her 10th all-time on Eastern Washington's outdoor performance list.
The EWU record is 4.27m (14' 0"), set by Keisa Monterola in 2012.
Ruff and the Eagles will next compete on March 23-24 at the Buc Scoring / Combined Events Meet hosted by Whitworth University in Spokane.
