The Eastern Washington University women's tennis squad traveled to Sac State today (March 31) and fell to a score of 6-1 at the Sacramento State Tennis Courts. The Eagles fought tough against the Hornets, proving each match to be a battle but returned home with the Big Sky Conference deficit. With the loss, Eastern moves to 2-10 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
"Tough loss today. We had good chances in a lot of the matches but weren't able to pull through," head coach
Dustin Hinson said. "The team left it out on the court and I'm proud of their effort . I'm happy for the win on court six for [Kenzington] Mann. She played well and earned the victory."
Kenzington Mann delivered with a victory at the No. 6 singles spot, winning the first set 6-3. In the second set, Mann clinched the match with a 6-4 win.
Jennifer Kida picked up a win at No. 2 singles, finding victory in her first set 6-4, but the match would end in Sac. St. favor after three sets.
Renata Gabuzyan boosted the team when she forced a third set at singles No. 3 spot after winning the second set 6-3. Her match would eventually end in a third set tie breaker, falling 12-10.

The Eagles hit the road next week for two matches beginning with Montana State on Friday, April 7 at 8 a.m. Pacific Time in Bozeman, Mont. Two days later on Sunday, April 9, EWU travels to Missoula, Mont., to take on the Montana Grizzlies at 8 a.m. PT.
