CHENEY, Wash. — The Eastern Washington Track and Field team will split between two meets again this weekend, with some headed west to Ellensburg, Wash. to compete in the Central Washington University Wildcat Invitational, while others will go east to Missoula, Mont. to compete in the Montana Open hosted by the University of Montana. Both will be single day competitions for the Eagles on Saturday, April 22.
EWU hopes to build on momentum carried from a successful trip to Southern California last week. Competing at three different meets in the Greater Los Angeles area, they came away with 11 new marks in EWU's all-time top 10 event records. Eagles turned in 25 performances that landed within the Big Sky Conference's top 10 for the season, including 11 within the top 5. Bobby Say and Hally Ruff were each named Big Sky Track & Field Athletes of the Week for their efforts.
Eastern's throwers will begin at CWU at 10 a.m. with the women's weight throw and compete through the men's shot put at approximately 2 p.m. See the full CWU Wildcat Invitational meet schedule here.
The remainder of the team will be in Missoula, starting with the women's pole vault at 11 a.m. and women's 3,000-meter steeplechase at 11:15. The Montana Open will conclude with the men's 1,600-meter relay at approximately 4:10 p.m. See the full Montana Open meet schedule here.
Including this week, the Eagles have just two more weeks of competition lined up before preparations for the 2023 Big Sky Outdoor Championships in Greeley, Colo. on May 10-13.
