Eagles drop weekend matches in Portland

Eastern Washington faced the Pilots and Vikings on their home courts Saturday and Sunday

PORTLAND, Ore. — Eastern Washington men's tennis traveled to Portland, Ore. this weekend for matches against the University of Portland and Portland State University. Eastern dropped both matches, 7-0 and fell to 0-7 on the season. 

The Eagles dropped its singles matches to the Pilots on Saturday (Feb. 24) in straight sets, along the three doubles matches. 

Against the Vikings, Eastern won the No. 1 doubles match as Caden Kammerer and Tyler Dalos earned a 6-2 win over Andrea Brignacca and Jan Semerak. 

Eastern battled tough in singles, pushing two matches to the third-set tiebreaker. Drew Dillon won his opening set against Luka Jovanvich, 6-2. He dropped the second 6-3 and the two went to a third set. In the third, Dillon nearly earned the win, pushing the set into extras but coming up short 12-10. At No. 2, Tyler Waddock won his first set over Semerak, 6-1, but dropped the second, 7-5. In the tiebreaker, Semerak edged Waddock, 10-7.
