Eastern celebrates senior day in final match

Eastern Washington dropped the season finale against Idaho State

CHENEY, Wash. - Eastern Washington men's tennis hosted Idaho State for the last match of the 2024-25 season at Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse. The Bengals defeated Eastern, 5-2, today, winning four singles matches after leading off with the doubles point. EWU ends its season with a 4-18 overall record and 1-7 in the Big Sky. 

Eagle seniors Drew Dillon, Caden Kammerer, Brady Thomas and Jess Weaver were honored for their careers prior to the match.

Kammerer delivered a win in his final match in Cheney, defeating Sam Wensley in two sets (6-3, 6-4) playing in the No. 4 spot. The graduate student partnered with Thomas, also playing his final match as an Eagle, to win at the No. 3 doubles. Kammerer and Thomas topped Wensley and Lewie Bouman, 6-1.

Tyler Waddock was in a battle at No. 1 singles, facing Victor Sklenka. Waddock fought for a 7-6 win in the first set after a 7-3 advantage in the tiebreaker. Shklenka evened the match with a 6-3 win in set two. Now into the third set, Waddock and Sklenka went to tiebreakers for the second time. Waddock prevailed in the tiebreaker, 7-4, to take the third set 7-6 and win the point.
