CHENEY, Wash. — Continuing their longstanding tradition of excellence in the classroom, the Eastern Washington University Men's and Women's Cross Country teams both earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team honors, as announced by USTFCCCA on Feb. 1.

The Eagle men finished with a team average 3.23 grade point average while the women earned a spectacular 3.72. To qualify for the award, teams must hold a 3.0 GPA or better as a team for the most recent grading period. This year marks four straight distinctions for both the men's and women's teams at EWU.

Eastern finished fifth on both sides at the 2023 Big Sky Cross Country Championships, marking the best team finish for the men since 2013 and best for the women since 2015. Cross country runners have now smoothly transitioned into indoor track and field season, with several new marks on Eastern's All-Time Top 10 Indoor Performance List already this year.

EWU next competes this weekend at the Husky Classic hosted by the University of Washington in Seattle and at the Third Annual Whitworth Invite held at The Podium Powered by STCU in Spokane. In partnership with Spokane Sports and the Big Sky Conference, the Eags will host the 2024 Big Sky Indoor Track and Field Championships at The Podium on Feb. 22-24.
