10/4/2025 2:52:00 PM

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University cross country teams traveled down to Walla Walla to compete in the Whitman Open this Saturday. Coming off a great showing in California, the Eagles looked to carry their recent success into the weekend. The Eagles who competed had a strong showing, including some new personal records.

"We sent a small group down to Walla Walla and we had some pretty good runs," said Director of Track and Field / Cross Country Erin Tucker. "Great seeing 3 ladies in the top-15 with a 1st year student finishing in the top-10. This was a great road trip for Coach Hahn, 1st one of many."

The women's 6K ran first, with 72 athletes competing. The Eagles were led by Ifechi Okoye, who placed 8th with a new 6K personal best time of 23:14.26. Following close behind, finishing 12th, was Hannah Lee, who recorded a season-best 6K time of 23:23.97. Brooke Heinkin finished closely behind, placing 15th with a new 6K personal best of 23:44.50.

In the men's 8K, Eastern was led by Noah Holden, who placed 58th with a time of 27:41.54. Finishing 76th was Evan Cheney, with a time of 28:20.51. Rounding out the Eagles' lineup was Max Meadows, who placed 95th with a time of 29:16.41.

"Now we get back to work on Monday and get back with the Riverside group and prep for our next meet in two weeks. The energy is still high and we are now fully loaded and ready to roll with our new XC Coach. Go Eags!"

Looking Ahead
The Eagles will finish out the regular season on the road in McMinnville, Oregon in the George Oja Invitational hosted by Linfield, on October 18th.
