CORVALLIS, Ore. — The regular season is now complete for Eastern Washington track and field, as the team competed in its final two meets this weekend. Eastern competed at the Oregon State High Performance Meet on Friday and today, along with the Desert Heat Meet also taking place today.
The Eagles closed the regular season with multiple athletes posting personal records to move up on the program's all-time performance lists.
Desert Heat Meet-Tucson, Ariz.
In the 100m hurdles, Madelyn Knight posted a time of 13.90 seconds beating her personal record by two hundredths of a second. The senior continues to improve her time in the number two spot on the program's all-time list. Knight then ran the 400m hurdles in 1:00.70, moving up to fifth on the performance list. She previously held the eight-fastest time in program history.
Caitlin Simmons placed fifth in the long jump with a 6.22 mark, improving her position at the second spot on the all-time list.
Owen Higgins jumps to sixth on the EWU 800m performance list after a 1:50.60 time in Tucson. Higgins' previous best was the 10th best time in program history.
"Madi the Magnificent had two PRs for heading into the conference meet, which is important," Director of Track and Field
Erin Tucker said. "It was a lifetime best for Owen in the 800m and it's what we have been looking for all season, especially two weeks before Conference. Big PR for the Big Sky jump Queen Egypt in the long jump, that's huge going into Conference."
