Anderson named Offensive Coordinator, two more join staff

Marc Anderson earns the promotion, while Chad Germer and Austin York are added to the offense

CHENEY, Wash.Being patient has paid off for Associate Head Coach Marc Anderson as he was named the new Offensive Coordinator for the Eagles. Head coach Aaron Best announced the promotion of Anderson who will enter his 14th year with the program in 2025 (11th as a full-time staff member. He also retains the Associate Head coach title.

Joining Best and Anderson's staff will be Chad Germer as offensive line coach and recent Eagle tight end Austin York will make the move from student-athlete to coach as he takes over the tight end group for Anderson. 

Marc Anderson - Offensive Coordinator / Associate Head Coach

Anderson has served as associate head coach and tight ends coach the past three seasons. He has moved up the ranks for the EWU staff in his 14 seasons, starting as a student intern in 2011 before taking on roles as a video coordinator and student operations assistant (2014), and then director of football operations and recruiting coordinator in 2016. 

Under Anderson's guidance, Eastern boasted three All-Big Sky selections at tight end with Blake Gobel (2023), Austin York (2024) and Jett Carpenter (2024). 

During his time at EWU, Anderson has helped with roster management, and coordinating team activities and camps. He has supported administrative services including budgeting and hiring of new staff members. 

Anderson graduated from Eastern, earning his Bachelor of Arts and Education in English in 2014 and then his Master's of Arts in English in 2016.

Chad Germer - Offensive Line

Germer has 29 years of coaching experience in the collegiate ranks and returns to the Big Sky after spending last season as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Montana State University-Northern.

Before coaching at Northern, Germer coached the offensive line at Montana, Wyoming, and UNLV. Germer had three stints with the Grizzlies, starting in 1998 to 2002, 2009, and most recently, 2015 to 2021. He was at UNLV from 2010 to 2014 and Wyoming from 2003 to 2008. 

During his most recent tenure in Missoula, Germer coached five lineman to All-Big Sky honors. Germer had two All-Mountain West selections while on the Rebels' staff. In his first stint with Montana, Gerner coached four All-American selections.

Germer played for the Griz and graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration.

Austin York - Tight Ends

York goes right from the field to the sideline after he finished his third season with Eastern in 2024 as a student-athlete and completed his Communications Studies degree with a minor in coaching. York finished his Eagle football career with 34 games played and 12 starts. The Chico, Calif. Native finished with 22 receptions for 154 yards and one touchdown. 

This past season, York was elected a captain and took on the role of fullback to help Eastern's successful running game. EWU ranked second in the Big Sky and fifth in the nation this past season, averaging 238.0 yards per game(5.2 yards per carry). 

York was named to the Big Sky All-Conference second team at fullback, his first career postseason award.
