Eastern is enjoying the extended time at home, playing its second-straight home game this week against Idaho on Saturday for a 4 p.m. kick off. The game will be broadcast live on SWX and streamed on ESPN+. Listen to the game live on 700 ESPN and the Varsity App with the voices of the Eagles, Larry Weir and Paul Sorensen.

EWU was on bye this past week, but is coming off a
35-27 win over Portland State in its last matchup. In the first home Big Sky matchup, Eastern took the lead early in the game and had to repel the Vikings for the entire contest. With EWU leading by four at halftime, PSU closed the gap to one with a field goal in the third quarter. The Eagles then scored two touchdowns to go up, 35-20 at the 3:10 point of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Vikings scored with just under 10 minutes remaining in the game to keep the score tight. PSU was driving late in the game, but Jaylon Jenkins snagged his second interception of the season to clinch the win. Eastern rushed for 333 yards on 41 carries - 8.1 yards per attempt. Nate Bell posted a career-best 175 yards on 17 carries, scoring one touchdown. Marceese Yetts and Kevin Allen III each had 79 yards, with Allen scoring two touchdowns and Yetts scoring one.

The rush game is a strength for the Eagles, averaging 180.5 yards per game this season, ranking fifth in the conference. They have 16 rushing touchdowns, tied for fourth in the Big Sky.

Leading the way from the quarterback spot is Bell, who has 485 yards this season, averaging 7.1 yards per carry and seven touchdowns. Bell's touchdown total is tied for second in the conference - 12th in the FCS - and his yards are ranked third. He averages 80.8 yards per game.

Yetts has 178 yards, four touchdowns and is averaging 4.3 yards per carry this season, with Allen totaling 149 yards, two scores and a 6.8 yards-per-carry average.

EWU's linebacker core has done their jobs this season, with Read Sunn leading the team with 42.0 tackles - 26 solo. Myles Mayovsky is right behind Sunn with 40 tackles, making 22 solo. Sunn leads the team with 2.0 sacks, and Mayovsky contributes 1.0 sacks himself. Against PSU, both Sunn and Mayovsky set career-bests with 11 tackles apiece.

Women's Soccer
– at Portland State (Thursday, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m.)

Eastern Washington looks to rebound from a hard-fought 3–2 setback at Idaho as the Eagles head to Portland, Ore., to face Portland State on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m. EWU delivered one of its most aggressive attacking performances of the season in Moscow, outshooting the Vandals 14–10 and placing 10 shots on target, but a late push from Idaho ultimately swung the result.

After conceding in the 11th minute, the Eagles continued to press and control possession, eventually breaking through in the 72nd minute when Kendall Moore slotted home the equalizer to ignite the attack. Eastern kept the pressure on, and just seven minutes later, Audrey Schlotfeldt buried a go-ahead strike to silence the home crowd and give EWU a 2–1 lead. However, Idaho answered with two goals in the 83rd and 85th minutes to steal back the momentum.

Even after the late swing, the Eagles continued to push forward, earning three corner kicks and forcing five saves from the Vandal goalkeeper in the final stretch. Moore and Chloe Pattison led the charge with four shots each, constantly testing the back line, while goalkeeper Kamryn Willoughby made three saves and anchored a defensive unit that held strong for much of the match.

Now, Eastern turns its focus to Portland State, aiming to carry its attacking momentum into another key conference showdown.

Men's Golf - at Beaver Invitational (Tuesday-Wednesday, Oct. 14-15, All Day)

EWU is in Salem, Ore. for its final tournament of 2025, playing at the Beaver Invitational, hosted by Oregon State. The tournament begins tomorrow with two rounds and finishes on Wednesday with a final round. Eastern's final lineup of the fall is led by Cal Anderson, Hogan Park, Jason Bustos, Zach Miller and Lucas Hughes

The team was idle last week, but competed well at the Mark Simpson Invitational in Erie, Colo. two weeks ago. The Eagles tied for 13th on the leaderboard, shooting 288 (E) in the two-day competition. Anderson led the team, shooting 210 (-6) and earning a tie for 21st on the individual leaderboard. Park shot 215 (-1) to end up in a tie for 52nd.

Women's Volleyball
– vs. Northern Arizona (Thursday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m.), va Northern Colorado (Friday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.) - Get Tickets

Eastern Washington wrapped up a tough road swing, dropping matches to Weber State and Idaho State. The Eagles now turn their attention to a back-to-back homestand, looking to bounce back against Northern Arizona on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. and Northern Colorado on Friday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m.

Against Weber State, Eastern showed moments of resilience after a slow start, responding with a gritty effort in the second set to earn a 26–24 win behind strong swings from Quincy Moran and steady distribution offensively. Despite matching the Wildcats with eight blocks and pushing the fourth set to a tight finish, the Eagles couldn't maintain the momentum and ultimately fell, 3–1. Moran led the way with 13 kills, while Olivia Burns anchored the defense with 16 digs.

In Pocatello, Eastern opened competitively before Idaho State settled in and controlled the pace to secure a straight-set victory. Moran once again paced the attack with nine kills, with Burns adding 13 digs and Judith Bolomboy contributing four blocks at the net. While the Eagles showed effort and fight in stretches, they were unable to overcome Idaho State's consistent pressure on both sides of the ball.

Cross Country
– at George Oja Invitational (Saturday, Oct. 18 at 10 a.m.)

Eastern Washington Cross Country has one final tune-up before heading to Bozeman for the Big Sky Championships, as the Eagles travel to McMinnville, Ore., for the George Oja Invitational hosted by Linfield.

Last time out, the Eagles competed at the Whitman Open in Walla Walla, continuing to build momentum following a strong showing in California. The group delivered another solid performance highlighted by multiple personal bests.

The women opened the day in the 6K, which featured 72 runners. Ifechi Okoye led the way for Eastern, placing eighth with a new personal-best time of 23:14.26. Hannah Lee followed closely behind in 12th, recording a season-best 23:23.97, while Brooke Heinkin continued the strong pack effort, taking 15th with a personal best of 23:44.50.

In the men's 8K, Noah Holden paced the Eagles with a 58th-place finish in 27:41.54. Evan Cheney crossed next in 76th with a time of 28:20.51, and Max Meadows rounded out the lineup in 95th at 29:16.41.

With confidence building and momentum on their side, the Eagles now set their focus on one last opportunity to sharpen up before championship season begins
