Men's Basketball
– vs Carroll College (Exh.) (Monday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m.) - Get Tickets

It is officially basketball season here in Cheney. The 2025-26 Eastern Washington Men's Basketball season tips off with an exhibition matchup against Carroll College on Monday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m., giving fans their first look at a refreshed roster under second-year head coach Dan Monson.

Monson, entering his second season at the helm, aims to build on year one with a roster that blends returning experience and impactful new additions. Seven Eagles are back from last season's squad—Angelo Winkel, Tyler Powell, Elijah Thomas, Andrew Cook, Maddox Monson, Emmett Marquardt, and Shaumba Ngoyi—each bringing leadership and familiarity to a team eager to take the next step.

The program also reloaded through the transfer portal, adding a talented group headlined by Isaiah Moses, Straton Rogers, Alton Hamilton IV, Kiree Huie, Johnny Radford, and Jojo Anderson. Coming from programs such as Miami, UC Riverside, Whitworth, College of Idaho, and Lewis-Clark State, the newcomers bring valuable collegiate experience and depth across multiple positions.

Joining them are two freshmen, Cole Scherer of Littleton, Colorado, and Alan Gballou of Layton, Utah, who inject fresh energy and represent the next generation of Eagle basketball.

Following the home exhibition, EWU heads to Nevada on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 1 p.m. for its final tune-up before embarking on a challenging five-game road stretch to open the season, beginning at UCLA on Monday, Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m.

Women's Soccer
– vs Northern Arizona (Friday, Oct. 24 at 3 p.m.), vs Northern Colorado  (Sunday, Oct. 26 at 12 p.m.) - Free Admission

Eastern Washington aims to carry its momentum back to Cheney as the Eagles host Northern Arizona on Friday, Oct. 24 at 3 p.m., followed by Northern Colorado on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 12 p.m. in their final regular-season matchups.

EWU is coming off a gritty 1–0 road win at Portland State, breaking a scoreless battle with a clutch goal in the 86th minute. Despite facing heavy pressure and 14 shots from the Vikings, the Eagles held firm defensively behind a composed effort from goalkeeper Kamryn Willoughby and a disciplined backline. Head coach Missy Strasburg praised the team's resolve and execution, noting the result as a timely confidence boost heading into the final week.

Eastern Washington currently sits sixth in the Big Sky standings, with only six teams earning a spot in the conference tournament. With the postseason on the line, this weekend's matches become crucial opportunities for the Eagles to secure their place.

Football - at Weber State (Saturday, Oct. 25 at 12 p.m. PT/1 p.m. MT)

It's back on the road this week for Eastern Washington as the team heads to Ogden, Utah to play Weber State on Saturday. The game kicks off at 12 p.m. Pacific Time. and will be streamed live on ESPN+. Listen to the game live on 700 ESPN and the Varsity App with the voices of the Eagles, Larry Weir and Paul Sorensen.

EWU is on a two-game win streak following a
21-14 victory over No. 24 Idaho this past Saturday. The game was a defensive battle, with the Eagles' defense allowing a season-low in points. Eastern led 13-7 at halftime and scored in the fourth quarter to give themselves a two-possession lead. The Vandals scored late, but were unable to cut the lead down any further. The win was EWU's first over Idaho since 2021.

Nate Bell was again a force running the ball, carrying a career-best 23 times for 134 yards, his second consecutive 100-yard game. Bell also passed for 177 yards and threw two touchdowns in the win. Miles Williams recorded his first career multi-touchdown game, finishing with two scores on four catches and 40 receiving yards. Jaylon Jenkins nabbed his third interception of the season and had three total tackles in the game. Drew Carter, Read Sunn and Myles Mayovsky all posted seven tackles in the game to lead the team.

This season, EWU leads the Big Sky in fourth-down conversion defense, allowing opponents to convert on 47.1 percent of attempts. Eastern held Idaho to 1-5 on fourth down conversions, the most stops on fourth down, as a team, since 2019.

Jenkins had an interception for the second consecutive game, and sits at second in the conference in interceptions. He leads the conference with 10 passes broken up and adds 30 tackles, good for sixth on the team.

The linebacker core has been effective for the defense, with Sunn leading the team with 48 tackles and Mayovsky right behind with 47. Sunn is tied for 12th in the conference, while Mayovsky is 15th.

Bell has been explosive in the run the entire season, averaging 88.4 yards per game that ranks second in the Big Sky and 21st in FCS. His seven rushing touchdowns remain near the top on the conference leaderboard, currently tied for second. Bell adds five passing touchdowns and has 795 passing yards, completing 51.5 percent of his passes.

Women's Volleyball
– at Portland State (Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.), at Sacramento State (Saturday, Oct. 25 at 1 p.m.)

Eastern Washington continues its push for a breakthrough in conference play after falling in three sets to Northern Arizona and in four to Northern Colorado. The Eagles will now look to regroup on the road, heading to Portland State on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m., before traveling to California to face Sacramento State on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 1 p.m.

Despite the results, the Eagles showcased stretches of high-level volleyball throughout the weekend. They opened with a commanding 25–18 first-set win over Northern Colorado, fueled by aggressive swings, serve pressure, and strong blocking at the net. EWU also showed grit against Northern Arizona, clawing back to force a dramatic 28–26 finish in the third set after gaining late momentum.

Across both matches, Eastern Washington received key contributions on both sides of the ball, highlighting the team's potential. With continued growth and consistency, the Eagles aim to turn those flashes into a full-match performance as they enter another pivotal week of conference play.
