Eagles fall to Vandals in Moscow

2/15/2025 9:05:00 PM

MOSCOW, Idaho - In their lone match of the week, Eastern would be unable to pull out the victory over Idaho. The Vandals advance to 4-3 on the season and defend home court in their 7-0 win over the Eagles, as they fall to 0-7 for the season.

It was the first of two meetings between the two in Moscow this season, with this one being a non-conference match.

Eastern Washington is now 7-39 all-time against Idaho, with the Vandals winning the last six matches.

In doubles, Eastern switched up the lineup for the first time this season.

In the No. 1 doubles match of Tyler Dalos/Caden Kammerer, the two would impress in their first action together with a 6-2 victory. This is the ninth career doubles win for Dalos, and his second of the season. Kammerer picked up his team-leading third doubles win of the season, and the 11th of his career.

Eastern's No. 2 doubles Tyler Waddock/Drew Dillon would fall 6-1, and would see the No. 3 doubles decide the first point of the match.

The No. 3 doubles Arshjot Bhatti/Brady Thomas would fight until the end, but would fall in a heartbreaker to Gabriel Moroder and Eric Wang from Idaho 7-6, and give the Vandals the doubles dual-match point.

For singles, the Eagles would run the same lineup as they have all season. Tyler Waddock would represent the Eagles in the No. 1 position for the seventh time this season. After falling in the first set, Waddock would respond well and force a third set after a 6-3 second set win. The comeback would fall short however, with Francisco Gay defeating Waddock 6-4 in the third set.

Tyler Dalos would be in a back and forth first and second set in the No. 2 singles position, but could not pull away with a set win and fall 6-3 and 6-4.

Junior Arshjot Bhatti would represent the Eagles in the No. 5 singles position. As he has all season, Bhatti would perform well for Eastern. Bhatti would compete in the first and narrowly lose the first set 6-4. The second set saw Bhatti grind out a second set win 7-6 and force a tiebreaker. Gabriel Moroder however would be able to outlast Bhatti in the tiebreaker 10-6.
