Men’s Tennis unable to snag a victory against the Rainbow Warriors

2/22/2025 8:52:00 PM

HONOLULU, HI - The Rainbow Warriors (3-7) were too tough for the Eagles (0-9), as they fell 6-1 to conclude their two match stint in Hawai'i. Eastern and Hawai'i met for only second time, with Hawai'i advancing to 2-0 against the Eagles after taking thei first meeting in 1995 6-1

In doubles, Eastern would run the same lineup for the third match in a row.

Eastern's No. 1 doubles match of Tyler Dalos/Caden Kammerer and No. 3 doubles Arshjot Bhatti/Brady Thomas, would be unable to recover from slow starts and fall with scores of 6-3 and 6-2. The Rainbow Warriors would be able to clinch the first point of the night

In the Eastern's No. 2 doubles Tyler Waddock/Drew Dillon, their match would be stopped 4-3 in favor of the Eagles, as the doubles-dual point was clinched from the No. 1 and No. 3 positions by Hawai'i.

For singles, the Eagles would run the same lineup as they have all season. Tyler Waddock would represent the Eagles in the No. 1 position for the ninth time this season. Waddock would fall 6-1 in the first set, and would see a 3-0 second set deficit. Responding strongly, Waddock would win three of the next four to pull within one, but Azuma Visaya would three in a row to win the second set 6-3.

Tyler Dalos in the No. 2 singles position would fall behind early, but would be able to close the gap 3-2 against Quinn Snyder. Dalos would be unable to capitalize, and would lose the first set 6-2. Snyder would continue the momentum he gained in the first set, as Dalos would be unable to take a lead and fall 6-3 in the second set.

Caden Kammerer would represent the Eagles in the No. 4 position and would see an early 2-0 deficit. Kammerer would be able to win four of the next six, to make it even 4-4. Diego Dalisay and Kammerer would exchange games, and would be knotted up 6-6 and go into a tiebreaker in the first set. Kammerer would be able to pull through and win the tiebreaker 7-5, and take the first set. The second set would see another gritty performance from Kammerer. Another tiebreaker would see Kammerer this time winning it 7-4 to clinch the victory 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-4). With the win, Kammerer would earn his second singles dual-match win of the season, and the sixth of his Eagle career.

Senior Brady Thomas would sit at the No. 6 position for the Eagles and lose the first set 6-1. Thomas would respond in the second set and close a 3-1 deficit to only be down 5-4 against Andy Hernandez, but it would be too little too late. Thomas would fall in the second set 6-4.
