Eagles fall to Aggies in first of three matches in California

DAVIS, Calif. - EWU dropped to 4-11 overall after a 4-0 loss to UC Davis, who improved to 10-4 on the season.

Eastern and UC Davis met for the sixth time, and the fifth straight time in Davis. The Aggies moved to 5-1 overall against the Eagles, and have won seven straight matches.

It was a tough day on the court for the Eagles, as they would be unable to secure momentum in the doubles dual-matches.

Tyler Dalos/Tyler Waddock in the No. 1 position for the Eagles were in a tough match up against the Aggies, as the match would go unfinished 5-3 with UC Davis already clinching the doubles point. 

The No. 2 position for the Eagles Drew Dillon/Arshjot Bhatti and Brady Thomas/Caden Kammerer in the No. 3 position dropped their matches 6-3 and 6-1 respectively.

Tyler Dalos/Tyler Waddock  in the No. 1 position for the Eagles were in a tough match up against the Aggies, as the match would go unfinished 5-3 with UC Davis already clinching the doubles point. 

For singles, Tyler Waddock would represent the Eagles in the No. 1 position, but would see his five match win streak snapped with a 6-2, 6-4 loss to Lucas Bollinger

Tyler Dalos in the No. 2 singles position, and the senior Drew Dillon in the No. 3 position for the Eagles would also be unable to clinch a point for the Eagles, falling 6-2, 6-2, and 6-3, 6-3. 

The No. 4, 5, and 6 positions would all go unfinished, as the Aggies would clinch the match with wins in the first three positions and a 4-0 victory.

Caden Kammerer in the No. 4 position saw a 6-4 first set loss, but was in the middle of a second set 4-4 battle before the match was finished. 

Up Next
The Eagles will continue their road trip in California, this time against Big Sky opponent Sacramento State Saturday, Mar. 15 at 1 p.m. They will then wrap up the weekend at No. 61 Pacific Sunday, Mar. 16 at 10 a.m.
