IRVING, Texas — For the second time in two weeks,
Nolan Ulm is earning national attention as he was named a semifinalist for the 2025 William V. Campbell Trophy. William V. Campbell Trophy is the premier scholar athlete award in college football and recognizes a student-athlete who demonstrates academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.
Ulm was one of 177 student-athletes in the nation earning the recognition. Semifinalists come from all levels of college football, including NCAA and NAIA. The pool of candidates also comprise the nominees for the 2025 National Football Foundation (NFF) Scholar-Athlete Awards, presented by Fidelity Investments.
To be nominated for the Campbell Trophy, a student-athlete must be a senior who will complete his final year of eligibility during the 2025 season or a graduate student or transfer who has already completed a degree. They must have a GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
As an Eagle, Ulm has 100 career receptions for 1181 yards and 10 touchdowns and has played in 49 games with 23 starts. So far in the 2025 season, Ulm has 10 receptions for 79 yards. The '25 season will also be Ulm's second consecutive season he was elected a team captain.
Ulm was a 2023 Phil Steele All-Big Sky fourth team selection, catching 45 passes for 564 yards and grabbing four touchdowns. During the 2022 season matchup against Idaho, Ulm caught an 89-yard touchdown pass, the ninth longest passing play in EWU history.
In the preseason, Ulm gained notice from the Canadian Football League Scouting Bureau, listing the redshirt-senior as the No. 9 Canadian born prospect.
Ulm was named to the 2025 AFCA Allstate Good Works Team this past week, honoring student-athletes and coaches who have an extraordinary impact on their communities.
In the classroom, Ulm has maintained his high-level of performance, earning four Big Sky All-Academic awards in his Eastern career.
In the community, Ulm makes an impact with multiple charities. Ulm volunteers for the Mamas for Mamas charity in his hometown of Kelowna, British Columbia, raising money for single mothers who are facing various poverty-related struggles. He has raised $22,500 for the charity the past two years.
Ulm makes his impact felt around Spokane as well, volunteering for Helping Captive that helps victims of human trafficking, along with the Spokane YMCA.
Back in Kelowna, Ulm organizes the Make It Happen Football Camp every year, which helps to educate and empower young Canadian athletes.
