Cheney, Wash. - The Eastern Washington University men's tennis team concludes its spring season this Saturday, April 16, when it plays host to Big Sky Conference opponent Weber State in what will be senior Eduardo Bringold's final match in Cheney.
A four-year letter winner for the Eagles, Bringold leads this year's squad with 10 singles wins in the spring season while playing primarily in the third and fourth spots in the lineup. A native of Mexico City, Mexico, Bringold is also a three-time Big Sky All-Academic Team honoree.
On the season, Eastern owns an 8-17 overall record and a 4-6 record in conference heading into Saturday's match. Sitting at eighth place in the conference standings, the Eagles have been mathematically eliminated from the Big Sky tournament. However, they could still finish the season on a strong note by defeating the conference leaders, Weber State, which is currently undefeated in league play.
Overall, the Wildcats are 10-6 on the season, and 8-0 in conference. Weber State recently extended its winning streak to six matches after it defeated Idaho State 4-3 on Sunday, April 10. Senior Todd Fought and sophomore Stefan Cooper have both gone an undefeated 8-0 in conference singles play, out of the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively. Â In doubles, the team of Cooper and Sanjay Goswami has gone 10-5 overall and 6-1 in conference, playing in the No. 1 position.
