CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University men's tennis team looks forward to hosting their first home matches on Saturday (Feb. 3). The Eagles will play a double-header starting with Seattle U (11 a.m.) and then Whitworth (3 p.m.) followed by Montana State on Sunday (Feb. 4) at 11 a.m.

All three matches take place inside the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse on the EWU Campus and are open and complimentary to the public.

The Eagles will be returning to competition after a weekend in South Carolina. Eastern played a tough match against USC Upstate (Jan. 26) and fell 3-4, but won their match the next day against The Citadel 4-3. The Eagles are now 1-2 overall.

Senior Scott Paz went undefeated for the weekend in the No. 1 spot in both singles and doubles. In singles play he won 6-1, 6-3 against USC Upstate and 7-5, 6-3 against The Citadel. In doubles play he teamed up with Flavien Raveau to win both doubles matches 6-3.

The Seattle U roster features eight returners and only two newcomers to regular season play. The Redhawks are currently 0-1 overall. Whitworth is currently 0-2 before facing the Eagles on Saturday. They have four new athletes and four returners from last season.

The following day (Feb. 4), the Eagles will face Montana State in a non-conference battle. The Bobcats are 0-2 overall and will play Gonzaga on Saturday before playing the Eagles on Sunday. The Montana State roster features senior transfer Creel Smith who leads the team in the No.1 singles spot.
