BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Eastern Washington University men's tennis team lost 4-3 to Montana State today (Apr. 21). The squad sits at a 7-13 mark overall and 3-7 in conference.
"Though we beat them earlier in the year, we just did not perform to our ability this time around," said head coach Steve Clark. "With multiple chances to win the match there were just too many ups and downs. Unfortunately their seniors beat our seniors. We trust that the underclassmen can learn from the match today."
Scott Paz and Jeremy Field opened up doubles play with a 6-4 win on the first court. Victor Pereira and Jeremy Mueller teamed up but lost 3-6 before Martin Bats and Flavien Raveau found success at No. 3 winning 6-4.
Field played in the No. 1 singles spot and won in two sets (6-3, 6-3). Paz lost to his opponent (3-6, 1-6) followed by Raveau who also lost (6-2, 4-6, 6-7) and Pereira (3-6, 4-6). Bats lost at No. 5 (3-6, 5-7) before Mueller found success in a long three sets (6-4, 4-6, 6-0).
The Eagles will play Montana tomorrow at 10 a.m. (Apr. 22) in Missoula, Mont., for their last match of the 2018 season.
