Eagles Begin Their 2019 Spring Schedule with Three Matches this Week

Eastern Washington heads to California for a trio of matches

CHENEY, Wash.—The Eastern Washington University men's tennis team begins their 2019 spring schedule by playing UC Davis, Pacific and University of San Francisco this Friday through Saturday, Jan. 18-20, 2019.

"As a team we are looking forward to getting the season underway as we have a tough schedule starting off with three very good teams," said head coach Steve Clark. "We have great team chemistry and unity, which is very important. A key aspect for us this year is to focus on the process and getting better every day as well as staying healthy. We are a relatively young team, therefore we must focus on staying the course every practice, every point in every game, and every game in every match," said Clark.

EWU will face off against UC Davis on Jan. 18 at 1 p.m. Pacific time. Last season the Aggies recorded an overall record of 9-18 and made a Big West Conference Championship appearance. UC Davis is led by head coach Eric Steidlmayer.

The Eagles will then take on the University of Pacific on Jan. 19 at 12 p.m. PT. The Tigers are led by head coach Ryan Redondo, who is in his ninth season as head coach.

EWU will end their three match road trip by playing the University of San Francisco on Jan. 20 at 1 p.m. PT. The Dons went 6-18 last season with wins over George Washington, New Mexico State, Hawai'i, Pacific, Saint Mary's and Brown.

Following their three matches this weekend, EWU will be back on the court on Jan. 27 as they take on the Seattle University in Seattle, Wash.
