Eastern Heads Out for a Two Match Road Trip to Weber State and Idaho State this Weekend

EWU returns to play for the first time since Feb. 14

CHENEY, Wash.-- The Eastern Washington University men's tennis team will set out for their first Big Sky Conference road trip this weekend. EWU will play Weber State on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 1:30 p.m. Pacific time before heading to Idaho State (Feb. 24) for a 9 a.m. PT start time.

EWU returns to play after their 7-0 victory over Whitworth University (Feb. 14), giving them an overall record of 1-3 on their 2019 schedule.

"The life of a college tennis student-athlete should be the attitude of a life-long learner," said head coach Steve Clark. "Their job in the classroom and through their studies is to get better and it is the same on the court as well. Their court time, deliberate practice and competition also reflects that aspect. The goal in both their student life and their athlete life is to be the best you can be, then rise and repeat. This weekend is the competition phase of getting better."

Eastern will take on Weber State first on Saturday in Ogden, Utah. The Wildcats are 2-7 on the 2019 season with victories over Colorado Mesa (6-1) and Gonzaga (4-3). WSU is led by head coach Brad Ferreira, who is in his sixth season.

Before heading home, EWU will face off against Idaho State (Feb. 24) in Pocatello, Idaho. The Bengals are 2-5 on the season with victories over Lewis-Clark State College (6-1) and Colorado Mesa University (7-0).

After this weekend's two matches, Eastern will be back in action on March 2 and 3 as they take on Portland State and Portland on the road.
