Men's Tennis Travels to Seattle for Two Match Road Trip

The team returns to play after last Saturday's victory over Northern Colorado

CHENEY, Wash.-- The Eastern Washington University men's tennis team will travel to Seattle, Wash., this Friday (March 15) and Saturday (March 16) where they will face off against the University of Washington and Seattle University. The Eagles return to play after beating Northern Colorado (March 9) 5-2 in Cheney, Wash., giving EWU an overall record of 2-7 and 1-4 in Big Sky Conference play.

"In tennis because the actual points are scored individually,as opposed to relying on a teammate on a basketball court to pick up the slack if you're not playing well, tennis players are completely responsible for how they do on the court," said head coach Steve Clark. "Regardless of how they feel or how they're playing, they have to find a way to make it happen. With that in mind, there are times in every match where you have to deal with pressure, times where you have to trust your training, and times where you have to seize the opportunity. That's what we do every day in practice and we just have to keep working on it. This weekend is an opportunity to work on all those things."

The Huskies have an overall record of 3-9 with wins over; Portland (6-1), Liberty (4-3) and San Diego State (6-1). UW is led by head coach Matt Anger, who is in his 25th season as head coach. The match is set to begin at 8 p.m. Pacific time.

Seattle has an overall record of 3-6 with victories over; Puget Sound (7-0), Whitworth College (7-0) and George Fox (5-2). They are led by head coach Joey Barnes, who is in his first year as head coach. The match is set to begin at 1:45 p.m. PT.

After this weekend's matches the Eagles will take a week break from competition before returning to the tennis courts on March 26 and 28 when they take on San Diego State and UC Irvine.
