Eastern Travels to Southern Utah and Northern Arizona This Weekend

The Eagles return to conference play April 6 and 7

CHENEY, Wash.-- The Eastern Washington University men's tennis team heads out for a two match road trip to Southern Utah (April 6) and Northern Arizona (April 7). The two matches this weekend mark the EWU's last Big Sky Conference road matches of the 2019 season. The team has an overall record of 3-11 and 1-4 in Big Sky play.

"Grit is sustained passion and perseverance and not abandoning tasks in the face of obstacles or for changeability," said head coach Steve Clark. "We are back on the courts in our deliberate practice and look forward to getting back at it in competition. Special kudos go to out upper classmen Jeremy Field and Mikayel Khachatryan, who battled fiercely over the last week with six three-set matches. Though they would have liked to have won them all, their resolve spoke loudly even to opposition team fans. Game on."

The Eagles will first take on Southern Utah, who has an overall record of 12-5 and 4-2 in conference play. The Thunderbirds are led by head coach Colin Brown. The match Saturday is set to begin at 12 p.m. Pacific time in Utah.

Eastern will then travel to Northern Arizona for their final road match of the 2019 schedule. NAU has an overall record of 13-6 and they are undefeated in Big Sky play (7-0). The Lumberjacks are led by head coach Maciej Bogusz, who is in his first season as head coach. The match is set to begin at 9 a.m. PT.

After this weekend's two matches the Eagles will return home to Cheney, Wash., for their three final conference matches against; Montana State, Montana and Idaho.
