CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University men's tennis squad hosts Whitworth this Saturday (Feb. 1) at the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse at 11 a.m. Pacific time. The Eagles are currently 0-2 overall and have an 0-1 Big Sky Conference record following a 5-2 deficit at Sacramento State last Friday.
"The team has been training well and getting prepared for the weekend. We are excited to host Whitworth at home," said head coach
Jared Burnham. "I look forward to building on what we have been working on in training."
The Eagles opened the 2020 season facing Oregon on the road but returned home defeated 7-0 earlier this month. Eastern returned to play last week to face Sac State after postponing its match against Seattle University the week prior.
KNOWING YOUR OPPONENT: WHITWORTH
The Eagles have an overall series record of 20-9 versus Whitworth and a 17-0 winning streak, defeating the Pirates 7-0 in their last nine competitions. EWU's last loss to the Pirates dates back to February of 1992.
Whitworth has yet to play a match in the 2020 season. They are led by head coach Cameron Williams who enters his first year at the helm.
