Men’s Tennis Hosts Two Big Sky Conference Matches this Saturday and Sunday

EWU faces Weber State on Saturday at 2 p.m. PT and Idaho State on Sunday at 12 p.m. PT

CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington men's tennis team prepares for two home matches this weekend as they host Weber State on Saturday (Mar. 7) and Idaho State on Sunday (Mar. 8). Saturday's match versus the Wildcats starts at 2 p.m. Pacific time while Sunday's match versus the Bengals begins at 12 p.m. PT. The Eagles are 1-8 overall with an 0-2 mark in Big Sky Conference play.

"We are excited and looking forward to some tough conference matches this weekend. Playing at home I expect my players to step up and continue improving on what we have been working on in practice," said head coach Jared Burnham. "I know we have the talent and ability to do well this weekend as long as we keep our focus through every point. It is going to be tough, but we love playing at home and we are prepared to bring that same energy onto the court."

KNOWING YOUR OPPONENT: WEBER STATE

The Eagles have an overall series record of 9-11 and a one-match losing streak against the Wildcats after falling 6-1 on the road last year.

Weber State is 7-6 overall with an unbeaten 2-0 conference record after defeating Idaho State and Sacramento State. The team is directed by Brad Ferreira who enters his third-year at the helm. The Wildcats return junior Arthur Serafim who currently leads the team with an 8-3 overall singles record.

KNOWING YOUR OPPONENT: IDAHO STATE

Eastern has a 9-21 overall series record versus Idaho State, and a one-match losing streak versus the Bengals following a 6-1 deficit last season.

The Idaho State Bengals currently hold an even 5-5 overall and 2-1 conference record. Head coach Mark Rodel leads the team as he enters his fourth-year at the helm. Sophomore Lukas Ridemar leads individual play with an overall 6-3 singles and 7-3 doubles record.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Eagles resume competition on Mar. 24-25 as they travel to Irvine, Calif. to face Brown University and UC Irvine before heading to Riverside, Calif. on Mar. 27 to face DePaul.
