CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University men's tennis team returns to action to face Portland this Friday (Feb. 19) at 11 a.m. Pacific time at the Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center in Portland, Ore. After the match, the Eagles will travel to Eugene, Ore., on Saturday (Feb. 20) for a 2 p.m. PT match against Oregon.
EWU is 0-4 overall after hosting Utah State to a 6-1 defeat earlier this month.

KNOWING YOUR OPPONENT: PORTLAND
The Pilots are 1-0 overall following a 5-2 victory over Portland State, as they look to face the Oregon Ducks before clashing with the Eagles.
The Eagles last faced Portland on the road in the spring of 2019 and walked away with a close 4-3 deficit to the Pilots. EWU has an overall series record of 2-35 versus Portland and is currently sitting at a six-match losing streak with their last victory dated back to April of 2008 in Portland, Ore.
The squad is led by head coach Aaron Gross who enters his 22nd season at the helm. Last season, prior to it being cut short due to COVID-19, Gross led his team to a winning 5-2 overall record and has built the Pilots into a repeatedly ranked program.
KNOWING YOUR OPPONENT: OREGON
EWU has yet to find victory over Oregon as they have an all-time series record of 0-13 against the Ducks. Eastern Washington last faced Oregon in 2020 in its first match of the season and fell short 7-0 on the road.
The Oregon Ducks are currently sitting at an unbeaten 4-0 overall record following a 6-1 and 7-0 double-header sweep versus Portland State.
Oregon is led by 13
th year head coach Nils Schyllander. Schyllander ran his squad to an overall 11-5 record last season before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and has earned multiple Coach of the Year honors with the Ducks.

The Eagles were scheduled to face Whitworth on Feb. 26 but it has been cancelled. Eastern opens Big Sky Conference play hosting Portland State on Feb. 27 at the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse in Cheney, Wash.
