CHENEY, WASH. – The Eastern Washington University men's tennis team hosts its first home match of the 2021 schedule this Sunday (Feb. 7) against the visiting Utah State Aggies. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m. Pacific time at the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse.
Eastern returns to play after dropping its season-opening matches on the road to Gonzaga (Jan. 23) and a double-header versus Washington (Jan. 27), losing all contests by a score of 7-0. The Eagles now have an overall record of 0-3 leading up to Sunday's match against their Mountain West opponent.
The Eagles have an overall series record of 2-8 against the Aggies. This is the first time the Eagles have seen the Aggies since 2015 with their last victory dating back to 2009 on the road in Logan, Utah.
The Aggies are led by head coach Aaron Paajanen, who enters his second season at the helm. Utah State currently sits at 1-0 after defeating Idaho State 5-2 in its home-opener.
Following the match, the Eagles will take a short break from competition before heading to Portland, Ore., on Feb. 19 to face the University of Portland at the Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center.
