CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University men's tennis team hosts its first home match of the 2022 schedule this Saturday, Jan. 22 against visiting Pac-12 program Washington. The next day, the Eagles welcome Big Sky Conference foe Montana State for their first conference match of the season. Both home matches are set to begin at 11 a.m. Pacific Time at the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse.

Eastern returns to the court after dropping its season-opening matches on the road to Montana (Jan. 14) and Air Force (Jan. 15), collecting one point across both competitions. Teammates
Jeremy Mueller and
Steven Paz collected the victory at the No.2 doubles position, along with a pair of freshmen in
Drew Dillon and
Brady Thomas, at the No.3 doubles spot to collect the doubles point. The Eagles now have an overall record of 0-2 leading up to this weekend's matches.
The Eagles have yet to find victory over the Huskies as they have an overall series record of 0-18. Washington is led by 28
th-year head coach Matt Anger, who has led his team to the NCAA Championships 21 times and has a winning record in 22 of his 27 seasons.
Montana State is led by head coach Trey Morris, who enters his third season at the helm and currently holds a 1-0 record after a 5-2 victory over Air Force (Jan. 14). The Bobcats will take on Gonzaga and Whitworth before they travel to Cheney for Sunday's match.
The Eagles hold an all-time series record of 7-37 against the Bobcats with their last victory dated back to February of 2018 when Eastern hosted Montana State in a 5-2 victory.
Following the weekend matches, the Eagles stay home for three more matches beginning with Whitworth on Feb. 4 at 4 p.m. PT, Seattle on Feb. 13 at 11 a.m. PT and Whitman College on Feb. 19 at 3 p.m. PT.
