CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University men's tennis team faced Big Sky Conference opponent Montana State today (Jan. 23) and fell in a 7-0 defeat at the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse in Cheney, Wash. The Eagles move to an 0-4 overall record and begin conference play with an 0-1 record.
Senior
Jeremy Mueller began singles play with a victory in the opening set, defeating his opponent at the No. 1 singles spot (6-1), before dropping the next two sets.
Wout Doumen continued EWU's success after a 6-4 victory over the Bobcats in set one at the No. 2 singles position. Doumen would drop the match in three sets.
Mueller also found success teaming up with freshman
Steven Paz at the No. 2 doubles spot, but ultimately dropped the contest (7-6) against the Bobcat duo. A pair of freshmen in
Drew Dillon and
Brady Thomas also played well in doubles play, losing a tough match to their opponent (7-6).
