Eastern Washington men's tennis will get to compete in an away competition, but just up the road. Eastern will play in the ITA Northwest Regionals, starting Tuesday, Oct. 6 and the competition runs through Monday, Oct. 10, with Gonzaga University hosting the event.
Eastern will send six players to compete in the five-day tournament. The squad includes
Erik Sarlvik,
Tyler Dalos,
Bruno Ortega,
Steven Paz,
Brady Thomas and
Drew Dillon.
The Eagles first round of singles and doubles start tomorrow, with singles in the morning and doubles later in the evening.
In the singles round of 64, Dalos will play Veselin Kiselkov and Ortega will play August Gustafson at 9 a.m. Pacific Time. Dillon will open against Jayden Harrison at 10:30 a.m.
Three Eagles earned byes and will open in the round of 32. Sarlvik will play Oscar Brown and Paz will face Oliver Andersson at 11 a.m. Thomas will meet Nicolas Ocana at 12:30 p.m.
Sarlvik and Dalos will be paired up against Russell Soohoo and Avi Shugar from Idaho. Ortega and Paz team up against Jonas Hembo Mathiasen and Simon Kuszynski. The final duo has Thomas and Dillon facing Yu Han Hsieh and Filip Stipic. All double matches are scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
Last Time Out
Eastern opened its 2022-23 season last weekend in Boise, Idaho at the Dar Walters Classic. The Eagles competed in pairs for the three-day tournament against opponents from Boise State, Idaho, Oregon and Utah.
Paz delivered the Eagles a win on the weekend in his singles match against Soohoo[2-6, 6-3, 6-3]. Dalos would battle tough against Vivek Ramesh from Idaho in singles, but dropped the match[4-6, 6-4, 6-3]. Sarlvik pushed Utah's Dylan Applegate in his singles match, but came up short[6-3, 2-6, 2-6].
