Eagles Close out Non-Conference Slate at Home

Eastern Washington looks to build a winning streak going into Big Sky competition

Eastern Washington men's basketball will enjoy a second-straight home game for the first time this season, as they host Northwest Indian College on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 3:30 p.m. Pacific Time. The Eagles will look to close out their non-conference schedule with a winning streak.

Tuesday's game will be streamed live on ESPN+ and live stats can be seen on GoEags.com. Listen to the game live with the voice of the Eagles, Larry Weir, on 700-AM ESPN or on the Varsity Network App.

Tickets to the game can be purchased at Reese Court on game day or online by clicking the link HERE. At halftime, fans can once again have their photo taken with Santa Swoop. Additionally, fans can bring nonperishable food items to donate to the EWU food pantry for Eagle students. Fans who purchase tickets for the men's game will get free admission to the earlier Eastern women's game at 1:00 p.m. against Utah State.

Last Time Out
In the last game, Eastern Washington defeated UC Davis, 79-68 on Saturday (Dec. 17) at Reese Court. The Eagles trailed by two at halftime but were staying close to the Aggies. Midway through the second half, Eastern hit four three-pointers for a 12-0 run that put them in front, 57-51. Among the players responsible, Ethan Price, Cedric Coward, Angelo Allegri and Ty Harper all made a three to fuel the run. The momentum had shifted, and the Eagles closed out UCD for the win. Eastern's defense forced 19 turnovers and scored 20 points off of them.

Ethan Price scored 14 points and set a career high with four blocks in the game. Cedric Coward scored 15 points to lead the team and had five rebounds as well. Angelo Allegri scored 13 points and tallied five assists. Tyreese Davis scored 10 points with six rebounds and four assists.

A Look at the Eagles
Eastern is 5-7 on the season, going 2-1 at home, 1-5 on the road and 2-1 at neutral sites. The team averages 67.6 points per game, while allowing 70.4. On the offensive end, the Eagles are shooting 43.7 percent and 32.3 percent from three-point range. They allow opponents a 43.5 percent shooting mark to rank third in the Big Sky and 33.0 percent from three. On the glass, Eastern averages 35.1 rebounds per game to rank third in the conference, with 25.7 on the defensive end to rank second. Net defense is critical for the Eagles defensive strategy, averaging 3.1 per game, with 37 total this season.

Ethan Price is third in the Big Sky with 1.0 blocks per game and is tied for the league lead with 12 total. Price has three games this season with two or more blocks. The sophomore is also tied for 14th in the conference with 5.9 rebounds. Price adds 9.1 points per game shooting 50.0 percent from the floor.

On the scoring side, Steele Venters is the team's leader with 14.1 points per game and his shooting 43.4 percent overall this season. In the Big Sky, Venters ranks 12th in scoring and eighth in field goal percentage. He is shooting 33.8 percent from three-point and averages 2.1 made threes a game to sit at 10th in the conference.

Angelo Allegri is the follow up scorer to Venters with 10.6 points per game and is shooting 37.1 percent. Allegri has scored in double figures in four-straight games. Along with scoring, Allegri leads Eastern with 37 assists, averaging 3.1 per game, ranked 10th in the Big Sky. Allegri's 1.3 assist-to-turnover ratio is tied for eighth in the conference.

Complementing Allegri, Tyreese Davis averages 3.3 assists per game with 36 total. Davis holds the seventh-ranked assist-to-turnover ratio with a 1.4 statistic. The Kansas City, Mo. native averages 9.0 points per game and has scored in double-digits in three of the last four games.

Cedric Coward continues to contribute off the bench for the Eagles, averaging 6.9 points per game with a 63.6 percent shooting percentage. Coward is second on the team with 5.0 rebounds per game and 11 steals.

Scouting the Eagles
Northwest Indian College played Idaho this past Friday (Dec. 16), falling 125-51 to the Vandals. Idaho shot 55.6 percent in the game and held the Eagles to 28 percent shooting.

On Saturday (Dec. 17), Northwest Indian played Montana State and the Eagles fell to the Bobcats, 144-59. The point total was a program record for the Bobcats as the team had 14 players scored and the team shot 67.1 percent from the floor.

Series History
Tuesday's meeting will be the first-ever meeting between Eastern Washington and Northwest Indian College.
