Monson Announces Michael Jorge as Video Coordinator

CHENEY, Wash. – Eastern Washington men's basketball head coach Dan Monson announced that Michael Jorge has been promoted to Video Coordinator after serving the past two seasons as the program's Head Student Manager. Jorge graduated from Eastern Washington this spring and will return to Cheney to pursue his master's degree while joining the Eagles' staff.

Jorge transitions into the Video Coordinator role after playing a key part in the day-to-day operations of the program. His collegiate career in basketball operations began at Cal State Long Beach, where he worked as a student manager, assisting with practice logistics, game-day operations, film editing and team travel for the Division I program.

When Monson accepted the head coaching position at Eastern Washington, Jorge followed him to Cheney and spent the last two seasons leading the Eagles' student manager staff. His dedication, organization and behind-the-scenes work earned him the opportunity to move into a full-time role.

"Michael has been an integral part of our success here at Eastern," Monson said. "Following me from Long Beach to here, he's shown his loyalty and commitment. He's a relentless worker who is constantly serving and helping people. Though a majority of Michael's work is done behind the scenes and in the unseen hours, it's this work that helps our program run smoothly and efficiently on a daily basis. This promotion is earned and will positively impact everyone within our basketball program."

In addition to his work with the Eagles, Jorge has gained valuable experience across the basketball industry. He was one of just 140 students nationwide selected for the Sports Business Classroom Business of Basketball Immersive Experience in Las Vegas, where he received training in NBA salary cap management, scouting, video operations and analytics. Most recently, he served as a Camp Manager for the Jon Scheyer Basketball Camp at Duke University.

Jorge earned his bachelor's degree in Communications from Eastern Washington in the spring of 2026, graduating with a 3.77 GPA. This fall, he will begin pursuing a master's degree in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence Leadership while serving as the Eagles' Video Coordinator.
