CHENEY, Wash. – Following a dominate 6-1 win last Friday, the Eastern Washington University men's tennis team returns to action to host Seattle University this Sunday (Feb. 13) at 10 a.m. Pacific Time at the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse in Cheney, Wash.
The Eagles look to continue their success after dominating Whitworth (6-1) at home on Feb. 4. Eastern allowed only four points across all three doubles matches, including a shutout at the No. 3 doubles position. Senior
Jeremy Mueller (No. 1), and juniors
Wout Doumen (No. 2) and
Manuel Balce (No. 3) continued EWU's progression in singles play, each finding victory in two sets. Freshmen
Erik Sarlvik (No. 4) and
Drew Dillon (No. 6) completed the team performance, allowing only four points between the two sides.
With last week's victory, EWU sits 1-4 overall and currently 0-1 in the Big Sky Conference.
Eastern holds a 16-3 all-time series record versus Seattle U, with a five-match winning streak. EWU swept the Redhawks 7-0 on the road last season, and has only allowed five total points in their last four outings. Additionally, the Eagles are 4-1 at home versus SU.
Seattle U currently holds an overall record of 1-8 with its lone victory over Oral Roberts (4-3). They are led by head coach Kristina Hollander, who enters her second season in the program. The Redhawks will face LC State and Idaho before traveling to Cheney.
