CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University men's tennis team returns to the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse to host Whitman College this Saturday (Jan. 28) at 1 p.m. Pacific Time in Cheney, Wash. The Eagles sit 0-2 overall with their first Big Sky Conference match just around the corner.
LAST TIME OUT
EWU looks to find its first victory of the season against WC after falling to Montana, 7-0, last Sunday (Jan. 22) in a non-conference home duel. Eastern Washington's last time out against the Blues dates back to February of last season in which they swept the visitors at home, 7-0.
The Eagles took down the Blues in dominating fashion, both in doubles and singles play.

Steven Paz teamed up at the No. 3 doubles spot to goose egg their opponents, 6-0. Then, in singles play, they both controlled their match by allowing only one point across the two competitions.

Manuel Balce showed similar strength teaming up in doubles play, allowing only two points at the No. 1 spot.
SCOUTING WHITMAN
Eastern holds a 9-13 all-time series record versus Whitman, with a four-match winning streak. EWU's last loss versus the Blues dates back to March of 2005 when Eastern fell 7-0 in Spokane, Wash. Additionally, the Eagles are 8-7 all-time at home versus Whitman.
The Blues begin their season facing the Eagles, with head coach Jeff Northam entering his 25
th season in the program. Last season, Northam led his squad to an overall 7-13 and 6-2 Northwest Conference record.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Eagles begin the February campaign taking on Utah State on Feb. 3 at 9 a.m. PT in Logan, Utah. Two days later, on Feb. 5, EWU faces Utah at 4 p.m. PT in Salt Lake City, Utah.
