CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University men's tennis team hosted Whitman College today (Jan. 28) inside the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse and swept the visitors 7-0. With the victory over the Blues, the Eagles improved to 1-2 overall this season.
Similar to last season, EWU dominated the match in both singles and doubles play.
Erik Sarlvik teamed up with
Caden Kammerer at the No. 1 doubles spot, winning 6-3. A pair of
Brady Thomas and
Tyler Dalos found victory at No. 2 doubles, preventing their opponent from collecting any points, 6-0.
Bruno Ortega and
Steven Paz closed out doubles play at No. 3, finding a 6-2 victory.
In singles play, both Paz and Kammerer swept the Blues at the No. 1 and No. 2 spot with a 6-0 and 6-1 win in sets one and two, respectively. Sarlvik found similar success, winning 6-0 and 6-2 for both sets. Dalos and Ortega followed suit, both dominating with scores of 6-1 in both matches. Thomas finished singles play with a 6-3 victory in set one and a 6-2 win in set two.
