CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University men's tennis team sends Whitworth home with a 7-0 defeat following a dominant performance this evening (Feb. 17) at the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse in Cheney, Wash. The Eagles improve to 3-5 on the season and look to resume Big Sky Conference play next week.
Eastern conquered Whitworth in doubles play, allowing the visitors zero points in No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Erik Sarlvik and
Caden Kammerer closed out doubles play at No. 1 with a gritty 7-6 victory over Nathan Tjelle and Payton Romey.
Steven Paz set the tone in singles play, collecting the first singles point with 6-0 victories in set one and two.
Caden Kammerer and
Tyler Dalos followed suit at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, both winning in two sets.
Erik Sarlvik,
Drew Dillon and
Brady Thomas each collected wins at No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 to complete the Eagle shutout. Â
