Men’s Tennis hosts North Dakota

Eagles face Summit League opponent this Saturday

The Eastern Washington University men's tennis team returns home to host North Dakota this Saturday, March 18, playing at 2 p.m. Pacific Time at the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse. The Eagles look to improve their 3-6 overall record as they take a break from Big Sky play after beginning the season 0-2. The match is part of a doubleheader with women's tennis, who will play UND at 10 a.m.

EWU steps back onto the courts after a short break from competition, falling in its last match to Montana (7-0) back on March 5. The match prior saw Eastern Washington hosting Whitworth to a 7-0 victory, in which the Eagles soared past the Pirates, winning each singles match in two sets.

Scouting North Dakota

The Eagles are a perfect 6-0 all-time versus UND, with an even 3-0 home and away record. The last time these two schools clashed dates back to February of 2018 when EWU traveled to Grand Forks, N.D., for a 4-3 victory. Eastern clinched the doubles point and won on the first three courts in singles play to solidify the win.

North Dakota currently sits 14-3 overall and 2-0 in the Summit League Conference. UND is recently coming off a 4-3 defeat against Portland State last Wednesday. The Hawks face Big Sky foe Idaho on Friday, March 17 before traveling to Cheney the next day. The team is led by coaching veteran Tom Boysen who was named head men's and women's tennis coach at the University in July of 2021.

Up Next

The Eagles resume Big Sky play next Friday, March 24 at Sacramento State. The next day, Eastern travels to Rocklin, Calif., to face William Jessop before returning home.
