Allegri signs NBA contract with Charlotte Hornets

Eagle guard signs pro deal after standout senior season

CHENEY, Wash. — Eastern Washington University men's basketball player Angelo Allegri signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the NBA's Charlotte Hornets on Friday.

Allegri, a guard out of Kansas City, Mo., was an all-around force in his final NCAA season, leading the Eagles to a 23-11 record (16-2 in conference), Big Sky Regular Season Championship and first round win in the National Invitation Tournament, marking just the second postseason victory in program history.

In his second campaign with the Eagles after transferring from the University of North Carolina Greensboro, he averaged 13.5 points (12th Big Sky), 5.5 rebounds (11th) and 3.4 assists (6th), maintaining a 1.3 assist-turnover ratio (9th). He earned Big Sky First Team All-Conference accolades.

Against conference opponents is when Allegri truly broke out, ranking 10th in the Big Sky in scoring during conference play, 9th in rebounds (5.7), 5th in FG% (52.6) and 7th in assists (3.6). He picked up his 5th career double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds in the Eagles' regular season conference championship-clinching win over Northern Colorado on Feb. 18, and earned Big Sky Player of the Week honors on Jan. 31 after averaging 22.5 points and 6 rebounds in wins over Idaho State and Weber State.

In a 5-year NCAA career split between three seasons at UNC-Greensboro and two at EWU, Allegri piled up 1,460 points (872 at EWU), 666 rebounds (409), 218 assists (167) and 105 steals (61) in 165 total games (78).

Exhibit 10 contracts are one-year, minimum-salary NBA deals that allows the franchise to convert the contract to a two-way contract if that change is made before the start of the regular season.
